PostHeaderIcon More about Web hosting

Here’s another good site to help you find different Web hosting companies if you’re looking for one.   This site provides clear-cut web hosting rating and reviews that are quite handy for bloggers or Webmasters even to those beginners.   Whether you intend to use it primarily for blogs, email accounts, Ecommerce, reseller hosting or whatever you need, you definitely need to find better deals by comparing rates and services first through reviews and recommendations to avoid future headaches.

I myself am not a technical expert on this and that’s precisely the reason why I’m extra cautious in choosing a Web Host. I scrutinize their uptime (should be 99.9%), price, money-back guarantee, bandwidth, reliability, excellent technical support, an option to pay monthly instead of yearly (in case I decide to cut off the service for product dissatisfaction), among others.

Web Hosting is highly recommended for businesses or online marketing but when you’re running blogs just for fun or personal stuff, you’ll do fine with free hosting.

PostHeaderIcon Our TV reception sucks…not again!

Was there ever a time when your TV screwed up on you while you were watching a TV show you were dying to see?  Frustrating, wasn’t it?

Last week, just as American Idol was about to start, our TV did just that - it showed nothing more but shiny silvery specks.   No audio either except for the excruciating hiss.   Noooo!

I’m so tired of getting inferior TV signal which shouldn’t be tormenting me if ONLY I had something like Direct TV.

Watching television is our family’s favorite pastime and I tell you, poor signal has been an awful cause of fighting between me and my hubby.  He just blows his top whenever the TV is down and I always get the blame for not getting deals similar to America’s Direct Satellite TV.  I wish I could find any DirecTV Specials here that would ever satisfy him - clear signal, better channels, value for money.   As for now, when our TV screws up, I just seal my lips to avoid arguments.

PostHeaderIcon PC running slow: What to do?

I almost gave up.   I’ve been having difficulty dropping EC for the past days because of my internet connection that seems to be getting slower everyday. I kept getting “page load error.” Sometimes, when I got to visit other blogs,  the Entrecard Widgets just didn’t appear or if they did, they didn’t have the word “drop” on them.  I tried dropping, nevertheless, but my drops didn’t register so I got really upset.   I needed to refresh the pages a couple of times before the pages loaded in “normal” appearance.

Frustrated, I decided to tinker with my PC in the hope of fixing the problem by myself (even if I’m no techie). I clicked on maintenance and analyzed my hard drive, then defragmented it.   It only took a few minutes to defragment my files and good grief, my PC is running better again.

Now I’m back to blog hopping and EC dropping.  See me visit your sites in a few!

PostHeaderIcon Can’t sign in to Yahoo!

Everytime I turn on my computer, signing in to my Yahoo! account is the first thing I usually do.   So today I got a little perplexed as to why I couldn’t sign in.   I thought I lost my internet connection, a cable got unplugged or something, so I tried to surf the Web.  There was no problem.   Except for Yahoo!

What could have caused this? After several failed attempts, I decided to just give it some rest and try later.   Have you encountered problems with Yahoo! lately?

PostHeaderIcon Generators? Get the right people to install them

Power outage means productivity reduction to businesses. It could also be a serious hazard to some like in hospitals, high-rise buildings or even malls.   I wouldn’t wanna get trapped in an elevator for hours!   That’s why generators are a saving grace to a lot of companies, even homes.   But is it enough to trust just about anybody to install one?  What are the risks?  If not installed properly, a generator could cause a lethal shock and it could likely be damaged as soon as power comes back.

If you’re planning to have a standby generator for your home or business, better enlist the services of experienced and qualified electricians like the ones in all year electric company.

When I worked as a store manager last year, we experienced a couple of power interruptions that lasted for about an hour.  Though the mall had backup generators, only the lobbies were lit while we, the tenants had to make do with our emergency lights.   It was a perfect time for shoplifters to do their “shopping.”   One almost got away with his loot if he weren’t apprehended by the guard.   He surely would have walked free if there weren’t sufficient lights on.

PostHeaderIcon Anybody can blog!

Got this photo from Small Note - Budiawan Hutasoit.  Homeless techie?!!!  Amazing how laptop computers have now become a necessity.    (I don’t even have one! LOL)

Supposing he’s blogging, I wonder what his URL is?   I’ll be quick to add him up to my blogroll! Cheers!

PostHeaderIcon PC down for a day

I don’t exactly know what I’ve done but after a few minutes of surfing, my monitor suddenly blipped dead then restarted.  But then I couldn’t log in.  It kept saying “disk failure” or something close to that.  Good thing I have neighbors who are software engineers and are willing to help anytime.   Help means free service, LOL! I feel that I owe these young men a grand thank you - Argeo, Jomar, Jong, Ian and Daniel.  They’re so like my younger brothers back in Davao who are as computer-savvy.   It pays to have nice neighbors around.

My PC is now obviously up and running.   Now back to business.  Fire away!
