Thank you, dear readers!
I haven’t been updating this blog since the devastation of Typhoon Ondoy but I’m so floored to see loyal visitors patiently coming back despite my lack of opportunity to reciprocate.
Thanks to all of you who continue to drop by from Adgitize and Entrecard and to all the other surfers from around the globe. I can easily trace those who are at Entrecard (and some Adgitize bloggers too) and visit them back. I can also visit back those who left comments and encoded their links. Those who are non-members of these two online communities, my warmest gratitude goes out to you all. I honestly hope I could trace every visitor I had since that ill-fated day of Sept. 26 so I can visit all your blog sites.
For now, I hope my BIG THANK YOU will suffice.
Fun Friday on my birthday
Ugh, another year is added to my age and it officially starts today. Does it mean that I have to brace myself for fine lines, wrinkles, and everything associated with aging? Over my dead gorgeous body, lol! I’ll put up a good fight to stop all the signs of aging, for as long as I can handle (no plastic surgeries included). Teehee!
Anyway, today happens to be Friday and as usual, I’m participating in Blogging for Fun’s Fun Friday. This time, the challenge is for us to dig into our long-forgotten “treasures” and unearth some of our old photos. And I mean OLD. With the age bracket of most of our members, it would mean vintage. Lol!
The ones I found were taken back in 1981-84 when I was 6-9 years old (Ouch, I just gave away my age). Problem is, I’m yet to go to the nearest mall and have the pictures scanned. I tried to capture one of them on my phone camera but this is how bad it turned out:
I was in 1st Grade here and I remember being part of a dance group. We performed at the community gym, the biggest venue we had in our place that time. Whenever our school gym couldn’t accommodate all spectators in an event, our school officials would have the community gym as the venue (so it must have been a big event, hehe). Obviously we presented a Filipino folk dance as evident in my costume.
If I can have the other pictures scanned today, I’ll post them too, the soonest.
Meantime, let me thank the Lord for this wonderful day and for all the blessings He’s been giving me and my family. Another birthday, another year, another opportunity to be happy and to make other people happy, another chance to live a fruitful life. It’s a happy birthday, yes! But from now on, I’ll stop counting my age. *Wink*

Meantime, I gotta rush to the mall in a little while. There’s a big sale in a mall nearby and since I’m a discount fanatic, I’m going for it. This is part of my early Christmas shopping while prices of commodities are still low (up to 70% discount on great selections). Also, I need to buy my daughter a pair of rubber shoes, maong shorts and a white blouse that she’s going to wear for their school program on Monday. She’s gonna dance on stage with some of her classmates and I can’t wait to see it. I’m her number 1 fan. Yay!
UPDATE:
School program is postponed. We’re reminded that this Monday, Sept. 21, has been declared a non-working holiday by the President due to Eid’l Fitr, or the end of holy month of fasting, Ramadan. That means no classes and so the school program is pushed to Sept. 28, next Monday. The stage moms (me included) can hardly wait. It’s another long weekend up ahead. Precious family time!
A new domain at last
After one year and two months of blogging and earning from it, I finally made time to buy my own domain at godaddy. Yes, I’ve been blogging and earning without spending for a domain because my femmepower was given to me by a good friend and my femme.news.views is on free blogger.
I intend to put up a new blog in the coming days in addition to my two existing blogs. I thank Eric of blogdemanila who’s ever so encouraging and supportive to the point that he even offered to help should I need a hand in setting up my blog with the new domain. It’s not everyday that you get to meet helpful people around the Web without any compensation of any kind involved. Eric is one of the bloggers that I only got to know through blog hopping and eventually became a virtual friend. I specifically value his expertise in WordPress and his kind, generous heart. It’s also through Eric’s blog that I got to know of godaddy discount codes that’s why I spent only $7.67 instead of $10.69 for my new domain. If you intend to get a domain at godaddy too, try using ZINE7 to get this discounted rate. I’m just not sure about the validity period of this code but it’s worth the try if it still works.
In the next few days I’m going to post here the link to my new blog and unravel what it’s like. I do hope that you’ll also visit it like you visit femmepower and femme.news.views. In the meantime, I thank you all for being around. You all make my blogging life so much fun and meaningful.
Fun Friday
Yay! Fun Friday has been revived by our group, Blogging for Fun. This week, our group leader, Melissa, chose to pick a short quiz. So short and easy, we only needed to click our month of birth and then voila! The result is seen below. You can do it too if you want, just for the heck of it. Mine is September, yes, it’s my dreaded month of the year and my daughter hasn’t been much of an emotional support with her persistent “Mommy, you’ll be 34 this month. Matanda ka na , mommy!” (You’re old, mom). She makes it feel as if I’m dying, lol!
The quiz result below says a lot about me. Why don’t you take this quiz too and see if the result reflects your personality? Just for fun.
What does your birth flower say about you? |
![]() My Quiz Result: Aster is the birth flower for people who are born in September. The Aster symbolizes love, contentment, devotion and daintiness. If your birth flower is Aster: You are devoted towards leading a good life. You like perfection in whatever you do. You listen more and talk less which is expected of a good communicator. You are industrious by nature. |
Humane and Loyal Blog Awards for Femmepower
I received this Humane Blog Award from A Woman Remembers. Now it’s my turn to pass this award to some of the bloggers whom I believe possess a cool head and a warm heart. In my opinion, the following bloggers deserve this Humane Blog Award:
Ask Ms. Recipe and Super Mommy To The Rescue
Meanwhile, The Frugal Housewife gave me this Loyal Friend and Visitor Award.
Here are the rules:
1. Copy the Loyal Award badge.
2. Pass it to who you think is/are deserving.
3. Leave a message to them
4. Pass as many as you want.
5. Message back the one who sent you this award.
I’m passing this award to the following blogs that deserve it:
Melissa’s Homeschool Blog, The Joys of Simple Life, and I Love/Hate America
Bandwidth exceeded
Femmepower was temporarily paralyzed for a few hours yesterday because it exceeded its bandwidth limit. With the growing traffic from you guys, Femmepower needed to upgrade to a higher bandwidth. And it just did! Thanks a lot for your continuing support. I never thought Femmepower would grow big enough to make a bandwidth upgrade after one year. Cheers!
