Reconnecting with the outside world
I am yet to post the second part of my post “The Great Deluge of Marikina” but with so much emotions running inside me, I opted to side-track a little but not really off-topic.
You may have noticed that I haven’t been updating my blog as often as before. It’s because we were one of the many people who got hit by Typhoon Ondoy last Sept. 26 and until now, we haven’t finished cleaning the house yet! There is just so much to do after being devastated by an unexpected flood that reached up to the second level of the house. Some of you may have been up-to-date with the news from your Direct TV when that ill-fated day happened. Direct TV Packages give you better access to programs that you’re most interested in like international and news programs. If you were able to see the clear images via Direct Sat TV how Typhoon Ondoy submerged the Eastern part of Metro Manila, you’d be shocked.
Since the flood, our area lost contact with the outside world - no electricity to charge our cellphones, no power for our TV and other electronics (or what was left of them). We were blind as to what was in the news. We didn’t know the extent of the damage, what other areas were affected, and why we got flooded when our drainage system was, as proven by experience, efficient! When our family decided to stay in hotels for a couple of days it was the TV that we first ran to and clicked on. It was only then that we were able to see
the terrifying scenario outside our own community.
Currently, power supply has been reinstalled in some affected areas but cable TV and internet connections are still down. I’m trying my best to keep you guys updated even if I have to come to the mall as often as possible just to post an article. For now, please know that I truly appreciate your visits and that I’ll visit you all back the soonest I can.

Rochelle it is so nice to hear from you. Even though we live in Florida now, I have never had to deal with a major hurricane. My mom did though, and it was pretty awful. Stay safe, and talk to you soon.

I am so sorry about the devastation. We were hit with a hurricane in 1980. That left us without power for a week. I can not begin to image how bad you must have it. And the clean up will go on for awhile.I, like the rest of us are sending you super good energy to help keep you going.
