PostHeaderIcon What happens when mom stops doing house chores?

Moms get sick too.  And when we do, it poses a problem not only for us but for the rest of the family in the house, especially if they’re so accustomed to mom doing almost everything for them or in my case, hubby is busy with work and daughter is too young for most of the chores.   So what happens when we, moms, stop doing household chores when we’re ill, or whatever reason there is?

1. Unwashed dishes

2. Overflowing trash bin

3. Late dinners (and often unhealthy)

4. Empty water bottles inside the fridge

5. Empty food packaging inside the fridge.

6. Unclean dining table and kitchen tops

7. Unswept and unmopped floors

8. Dirty clothes outside the hamper

9. Unbrushed bathroom tiles

10. A house that looks like a play pen

Can you add more?  I’ve figured it out several times already and I’m afraid I’m gonna deal with all this again now that I’m under the weather.   Oh crap.

oh! rochele. sorry to hear you’re under the weather. get the much needed rest.

on the chores, loads of ironing to sort out., a food free fridge, un made beds, an inch thick dust everywhere(exageration but you get the idea, lol!)

    hope you get well soon!

  • kaye:

clean unfolded and/or dirty clothes all over the place

    bed not made up

kid/s still haven’t taken a bath and it’s already afternoon

oh i could add so much more but it becomes depressing after a while you just HAVE to get up and straighten the place a bit.

    Kids start to whine
Pets do their ‘things’ on the bathroom floor
Husbands start to appreciate again that all duties are miraculously done on any other day!

You have to lay down the law. A statement such as: I am not feeling well. I don’t expect any help. But if this house looks like a pig sty after I am well heads will fly.
    Will that work.

  • melissa:

I am sorry you are not feeling well. Housework is something that I try not to stress over too much. I like a clean house, but sometimes it has to take a back seat to other things. It will get done, rest and get better.

That’s one reason why us men also knows some household chores… swerte na rin nakatikim ng independence kaya natutunan ang mga bagay na ganyan… jejejejjeje

  • Sheila Sultani:

I think #10 should be “pig pen” instead of “playpen”

I would also add. Dirty kids with mismatched wrinkled clothes.

  • Pinaybackpacker:

If you have pets, then it can also mean a smelly house with poo and pee everywhere. Tsk…tsk..

  • Stacey:

I think you covered them all. I hope that you feel better soon!

  • Lynn:

Looks like you’ve got most of it covered! Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Get better soon!

  • Maria@Conversations with Moms:

What is it with the overflowing trash bins? How hard is it to empty them and put a new bag?

I know what you mean about being sick and being left with all the chores once you feel better. It’s frustrating.

  • Stacie:

Cups all over the living room, kids running in and out the door, Mt Washmore Building, Did you know I was sick or something? LOL this is exactly what my house looks like today. Moms aren’t suppose to get sick!!

  • Jenna:

Sadly, most kids do not appreciate what we do until we get old. But really, it’s important that we train our kids early, not to help us, but to give them a sense of responsibility.

Let them do stuffs from time to time like baking — check this one out to learn how to bake in 28 days.

  • Tes:

I got here a bit late, Rochelle, hope you are so much better now! *hugs*

  • fedhz:
