Yesterday was a non-working holiday here in the Philippines (national day of mourning for the late Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) leader Bro. Eraño ‘Ka Erdie’ Manalo), so our family had the time to go out together and dine. I specifically chose Max’s Fried Chicken at SM Marikina because of their home-cooked goodness, but of course waaay much better than my own cooking, lol!  So good are their food photos too that my daughter, who’s a picky eater, had fun ordering and she ate more than I expected.

After the hearty dinner, we headed upstairs to see a movie about aliens residing on planet earth, “District 9.”  Me and my daughter wanted to watch “Up” but my hubby insisted on “District 9″ so okay, we’ll have to watch “Up” some other time then.

I don’t know what has gotten into my hubby that he asked me to take a picture of him and Edward Cullen (Twilight, New Moon) at the Cinema.  Hehehe.

That was a great day. The three of us had time to unwind, engage in light and fun conversations, eat a sumptuous meal (good gracious I didn’t  have to cook, lol!), and enjoy a movie.  There’s really nothing like spending quality time with the family.

kahit anong okasyon pala ngayon sa pinas pwedeng ideklara ni GMA public Holiday. teka maitanong nga, public holiday din ba noong libing ni cory?

It was a non-working holiday alright but I had to go to the office and I had to endure the heavy traffic along Commonwealth Ave. Good thing, you had a wonderful day.

One of the places I never fail to visit every time I come home. Lucky we have Max’s restaurant here in CA, it is quite a drive, but it’s all worth the time driving.

Great to see your family !

Eng - Yes, GMA declared Cory’s burial as a non-working Special Holiday.

Stacie - If I’m to be technical about it, District 9 lacked some elements that make a good film. The concept was different from the usual alien movies (like aliens invading earth and killing humans, etc) ‘coz in District 9, the aliens weren’t really harmful. They were just stranded here because their mother ship needed some fixing. It was the humans who did harm to these aliens. It was the humans who took advantage, abused, killed and discriminated the aliens that they call prawns (they look like prawns). I like the concept but the execution of the film wasn’t that impressive,at least in my own point of view. My hubby thinks otherwise though. He thinks the film might win some awards. We’ll see. =)
