Where’s Colgate in SM?
If you’re a Colgate user and you live in the Philippines, I’m sure you’ve noticed the absence of Colgate from SM stores.
It’s been several months since Colgate toothpaste disappeared from the shelves of SM Supermarkets and Hypermarkets, including Save More. Whenever I’m in SM, I hear a lot of SM shoppers ask around for Colgate like I do. Whatever happened, all the SM merchandisers can say is that it’s going to take a long while before they could sell Colgate toothpaste again. There are talks that Colgate and SM have some rifts about payments so if this were true, it would take some time indeed to iron things out.
For now, I will have to buy my groceries again at Robinsons even if SM is much closer. While I could settle with Close Up, my husband can’t. After trying other brands available, my hubby developed some tooth problems which he claims only happened when he stopped using Colgate. So I’m left with no choice but to look for Colgate somewhere else as hubby requested. Sigh.

Oh wow, I was in the Philippines last July, did not notice the absence of Colgate. My family and I are Colgate users too. What could have happened?

I think Colgate/Palmolive didn’t pay or give the support (advertising or anniversary) that SM is asking from them. SM knows that they are a very powerful company here in the Philippines, so they will not accept excuses like “economic crisis” if they want something from the supplier.

I haven’t been in the supermarket for weeks so i didn’t notice the absence of Colgate in SM. I’m also a Colgate user. I don’t know what is happening with SM but also recently a film outfit opted not to show its movie in SM cinemas because of alleged erroneous reporting of Sales.

I wonder what could have happened. Colgate is a large company so I’m sure it’ll get resolved quickly. Hopefully.

My mom gets pimples around her mouth when she uses Close Up. So we use Colgate at home, too.
Which reminds me of a joke about us Pinoys. It goes like this: “Manang pabili nga po ng Colgate, yung Close Up ha. ” Haha…:D

I like Crest probably the most but Colgate is great.

It’s funny that hubby develops tooth problems if he stops using Colgate. Why not try Crest—which is more similar to taste with Colgate rather than Close-Up

Hmmm … I’m still using the tube of Crest that I brought over with me from the USA. So I haven’t really been paying attention. Is Crest still available?

I think it is time for you to stock up on colgate and then you can go back to shopping at your regular store. Colgate is also a big company. It might be a long battle.

Craftista - Glad to hear from you, it’s been a long time.So you were here pala, that explains why you haven’t been updating your blog.I’m sure you’ve been so busy.Hope you had a great time visiting here.
Levy - I don’t know but from what I heard (from the grapevine), it’s SM who’s having some issues so Colgate pulled out until the problem is ironed out. Can’t know for sure.
Leomar - Heard about it too. Tsk tsk. By the way, have you read the message I sent you over Entrecard?

Maria - I, too, hope that Colgate will be back in SM shelves soon. Sounds puny but it matters a lot to my family.
Pinay Backpacker - Yeah,that joke.lol!
Eng and Grampy - Yep, I need to store more Colgate from Robinsons in the meantime then go back to SM for my regular shopping. Good idea, grampy!
Sandi, Bingkee, Grayspirit - I don’t see any Crest around here anymore. I think Crest has been gone from the Phil market for a long time now.

That’s sad - I am a fan of Colgate ! I hope the problem with SM and colgate gets settled right away. Colgate is so popular that we use it’s brand name to refer to toothpaste.

I think most people use Colgate.
Luckily there is Colgate in China…hehe.
Hope you will have it there soon!

No clue what the problem is, but Colgate is the toothpaste I’ve used for years and really don’t like others. Good luck finding it where you are.

aw. we used to buy Colgate as well. but when boyfriend found out that Happy toothpaste are made mostly by handicaps (the company is hiring handicaps i think) he wanted to support them so we buy any Happy product.
But right now his dentist suggested to use Sensodyne after his tooth extraction. hehe! good luck to your hubby! ^^ I am also picky when it comes to toothpaste. I like the red and green Colgate. I don’t like the white one. hehe
