Filipinos relive EDSA spirit again
…But this time, there was no protest. Hundreds of thousands of Filipinos trooped to the streets yesterday despite the heavy rain and sudden changes of weather conditions to pay their last respects for the late former President Corazon Aquino. People from all walks of life chanted her name, flashed the L (laban) sign, wore yellow, and threw yellow confetti and flowers as Cory’s funeral convoy passed by from the Manila Cathedral to the Manila Memorial Park.
No further words are needed to describe the strong emotions that moved the throngs of people during the funeral procession.
These pictures that I got from GMA TV’s live stream could tell how much the Filipinos love the late President Cory, our national icon and mother of democracy.

thanks for sharing this Rochelle, I do not have Filipino channel at home, so I do not see the news events there. Gladly, I have your site and the pictures you shared to make me feel I was there too.

No doubt about it, Filipinos love the late President. She may be dead but the Cory magic, as they call it, is very much alive. May she rest in peace.

Grabe, even if we are far from Manila but what we saw in our television clearly showed that she was well loved and respected by most of the Filipinos…

I saw everything on TV, in between naps. Unfortunately I was working at nights and I was not allowed to take a leave to attend her funeral. I would have loved to be part of history.
Btw, thanks for adding your link to my list of bloggers who placed a yellow ribbon or posted about Cory Aquino on their blogs.

We love her. We definitely do. And I’m one of those hoping that all of those who love her will also continue to live with the same values that she did. It’s about time that we Pinoys uplift each other and be proud of our country. I know it can be difficult given the amount of challenges we have but well..we can always try to do the best we can - just like what she did. She wasn’t a perfect President - she had many critics during her term. But now looking back, she was the most DECENT.
