What a kitten taught my child
This kitten just showed up on our gate one day. Apparently it was lost and hungry. My husband picked it up and placed it on the rooftop where it could eat and rest. From then on, it stayed with us. Despite the neighbors’ prodding to stray the little kitten, we decided to keep it. I myself can’t stomach the idea of letting it starve in the middle of the street and exposing it to a lot of danger being homeless.
It gives me extra workload, yes - feeding the kitten and cleaning the rooftop everyday to ensure cleanliness and prevent odor. But I can very well handle it. What I can’t possibly handle is to kick the kitten out of the house and deny it of protection when it’s even too young to “fend” for itself.
Lately, my daughter has taken the responsibility of feeding the cat regularly. She’s so fond of the kitten that she gave her a name (Kitty), talks to it and checks on it frequently to ensure that it’s well.
So I guess we hit two birds with one stone - saving the kitten and teaching our child to be responsible and compassionate.

Hard to resist little kittens–they are so cute! I took in a kitten too that was born to a stray, she’s now 4 yrs. old and a wonderful cat–Spunky Doodle!

We have several stray cats here where we live. I do not consider us to be unkind, but they do destroy our property. I have tried to get animal control to take them, so they can be properly cared for, but for some reason they will not. I feel sorry for them, and I wish people would be more responsible for their animals

Looks like a great kitten and will turn into a wonderful pet.
Just one thing though - the Kitty looks ginger - are you sure that she isn’t really a HE ?!

Cats are cute but I rather have dogs. They’re more “useful” to humans. Hey Rochelle, I’ve got a tag for you . Here’s the direct link; http://www.ilovehateamerica.com/a_filipino_immigrants_lov/2009/04/smart-blogger-goes-international.html

What a small kitten to have been all alone. I think you’re teaching your daughter a great lesson about responsibility. Also, she’ll learn to care for things or people that need help.

That’s good! Kids learn best if it is shown by example. Did a great job there!

What a cute kitty. My daughter wants me to get her a kitten although we already have two cats. I will probably break down and get her one around her birthday time.

Femme: Oh my, its just a little hobby that I have. I only see this as a passion and not more than that, but if I get better on a lot of things, of which I know I still have a lot to learn in photography, then maybe I would consider it…
thanks for your comment…
About your post: I am greatly moved by your being a good samaritan. God, made us to have dominion over his other creations. What you did is an act of Love and I am pretty sure God just smiled over that.
God Bless!
