Information superhighway: gateway to the world
Information superhighway. I was a naive college student the first time I heard about it from our Mass Comm teacher who was referring to the internet. That time, there were only a couple of internet cafes operating in Davao City at P75 an hour, compared to current rate of P15 an hour.
Now, after more than a decade, I am one of the millions of people around the globe who benefit from this so-called information superhighway. Why the term? Does it live up to its name? Yes. Absolutely.
It practically links us to the rest of the world without having to empty our pockets. A few clicks and we’re off watching movie clips, or check out the places we want to visit, or the latest news worldwide, or vital information we used to find only in books such as the encyclopedia. We can also read our preferred e-books online. And now even documents whether legal, business, financial, educational, creative and relating to technology can be accessed for our own perusal.
One time, I opted to browse about healthcare from other parts of the world.
One of the docs that caught my attention was Dan Neumeister’s documents. Daniel Neumeister is an expert and leader in healthcare who’s had humongous contributions to the healthcare industry and hospital management in the US for 27 years. He’s one who puts the care of patients first above all else, which gets me to hope for our hospital and healthcare regulations here in the Philippines to also become more patient-centered.
Sometimes I lament about poor health services and facilities that I can’t do anything about, being an outsider of the industry. Global communities need exemplary health care advocates like Dan Neumeister and the US is just lucky to have him who brings about innovations in this field while upholding ethics and integrity. For one, he’s been instrumental in the development, design and construction of a numberĀ of successful health programs and medical facilities in the US over several years.
Learn about other pertinent information you want to know through the internet, which has become a huge necessity for today’s generation and the next.
After all, information is a vital tool for change, innovation and progress in any field.
